One of the best ways to indulge in the treasures of the historical center of Porto is on foot accompanied by a licensed tourist guide. The gardens of the cristal palace from where you have one the most beautiful panoramic views of Porto and Vila Nova Gaia cities with the sinuous Douro river. The Clérigos Tower, the symbol of the city, the oldest and unique book shop of Porto: Lelllo & Irmão and a walk through the old jewish section, visiting a secret synagogue (not open to the public…).
The main square with the City Hall, inside visit of the railway station S.Bento with its walls covered from top to bottom with the typical Portuguese “azulejos” (glazed tiles). The Trade Association also known as the Ceremonies Hall of Porto (you’ll understand why when we start the visit…).
Enjoy lunch time overlooking the Douro river, after which we will take a 50 min.boat cruise where you can admire all the bridges of Porto/Gaia. Our tour ends with the visit of famous Port wine cellar Calém, one of the oldest wine producers of the Douro valley and a family owned company since its foundation in the 19th cent. Free tasting of the “nectar of the Gods”.
